Transforming your bedroom should feel like a sanctuary – a place that inspires relaxation, it’s the room where we spend almost half of our lives and is often overlooked when styling our homes. By incorporating the tips and ideas outlined, you can transform your bedroom into a stylish haven that reflects your personal taste and provides the perfect retreat after a long day. Whatever your style is, whether it be coastal, country or contemporary, choose a theme that personalizes your space.

1. Planning The Perfect Room

Take the time to select a good quality bed as it will become the focal point to your room so whether you prefer an upholstered bedhead and ensemble or a solid timber bed. This will dictate the style and personality of your room.


Depending on the size of your space this will influence whether you choose a queen or king-size bed, if you are unsure, add some painter's tape to the floor and mark out the size! Can you walk around the bed? Do you need extra drawers for storage? And can you make the bed without difficulty? What other functional pieces do you need, if space is an issue, under the bed storage can help. These are all things to consider.

Ultimately your bed should be comfortable and functional, so invest in a good quality mattress.

2. Bedsides for Functionality

Bedsides are functional pieces, to add to your bedroom if you have the space add one to either side of your bed for balance, not only are they great for storage, but they also are a place for lamps, books, and somewhere to rest your phone. When styling your bedside start with a lamp and then add books and a small vase or trinket box, remember less is more we don’t want to clutter this space, and it just means more dusting.

3. Rugs Add Warmth

Adding a rug to your floor can add texture and warmth during those colder months, especially if you have timber or tiled floors. There are a few ways to add rugs to your bedroom, just under the foot of the bed, completely under or just at the sides using hall runners or smaller rugs. FIND A RUG

4. Create a Calming Colour Palette

Bedrooms are a sanctuary so try keeping walls in a neutral colour such as white, cream, or pale grey – then use your favourite colour in bedding, throws, cushions, and art.

A neutral base also means it’s easy to rejuvenate your space with a new colour palette by simply swapping out you're bedding and homewares for something new. Play around with different colours, patterns and textures to create visual interest.

5. Set the Mood with Lighting

Bedside lighting provides ambience whether you choose table lamps, wall scones or pendant lamps this is up to you just make sure you hide your cords for a seamless look.

6. If You Have Space Add In Some Extra Pieces

If space allows consider other ways in which you can utilize space in your bedroom as it can be home to more than just a bed and drawers, add a bench at the end of the bed or even an occasional chair to create a reading nook or somewhere to throw your jacket at the end of a long day.
